Here we go again.

Focal Engine, Continuum 2.1 Build 13 and Continuum RT

Continuum 2.1 Build 13 still isn’t here. Let’s talk about why, and where things are currently.

Starting with the why; Joey, or as most of you know him, dotModded, has been working on things very little these past few months, due to various personal and mental issues on his end. With him being the lead developer on this, already being dug into the blockers for release, and kinda being the only one on the team capable of finishing what he has started, we’re a bit stuck until he manages to finish. That’s the unfortunate reality of the situation right now, no excuses, just how it is.

Now, for where we are, starting with Focal Engine. 1.17 is pretty much ready to go, or so I’m told, except for some AMD specific issues that we are waiting for dotModded to sort out. 1.18 is still up in the air entirely though, but we have decided to move forward with a release as soon as the 1.17 version is wrapped up, and push out the 1.18 version later. We realize that this is disappointing for many, I know it is for me, but we figure it’s best to put out what we have, once we can.

Focal VK continues to be worked on in the background, but it has not been the focus lately and has likely gotten very little attention between the aforementioned struggles and the focus on this. Once again, I understand this is disappointing, but it’s the truth.

As before, Continuum 2.1 Build 13 is pretty much done. That said, me and the team did discover another area that could use some improvement this month. You see, with the addition of ladders to Stratum, and me testing/taking screenshots of them, a shadow bug with ladders was brought to my attention. Some of you have likely encountered it with previous versions of 2.1. We took a look at it and found that it still existed in B13, and went ahead and cleaned that up. Small thing, for sure, but another nice little bit of polish for this long awaited update.

Last but not least, RT. Nothing has really changed here sadly. It’s still in limbo, awaiting our Focal VK update. Hopefully things improve and progress can pick up again soon. Per usual, subs are appreciated, but do not feel bad about unsubscribing during this lull in development.
