Happy Holidays!

We hope everyone had a great November! Despite the start of the Holiday season though, work has continued. Read on to find out what we’ve been up too.

Continuum RT

Once again, the developers have been working almost daily to bring this massive update to you all, but alas, it is not quite ready just yet. Again, as we’ve said before, anyone that have supported, or continued to support RT during this time, THANK YOU! We greatly appreciate it. That said, we entirely understand if you want to end your subscriptions until the next update is ready.

Continuum 2.1

2.1 did not receive a new build this month, but rest assured, when more dev time is available it will get some more love. We have some very interesting plans to share with you for 2.1.

Something that we can share right now though is a toggle coming in the next update that will allow you to remove the rendering of the horizon line in the sky. It will be off by default due to some small issues at sunrise/sunset but it is a good option for those that are bothered by that lines presence and want it removed before we find a better solution. Another more minor, but still nice tweak coming in the next build is bloom on soul fire in the nether. Sadly we cannot make it emit blue light due to Minecraft limitations, but it still looks better than previously, in our opinion at least. Check out the screenshots of these changes below, and stay tuned for future 2.1 updates.

Stratum

Stratum had a pretty cool month of updates, with Mythical finding some really nice materials to use for some the new 1.16 Nether blocks, as well as the return of Magma! The Nether with 2.1 Alpha and this new Stratum build is really quite something in our opinion. You may have noticed that this update did not release in November though…it was planned too, but we held it back a few days to add in one last texture; the Warped Wort block, so that the new Nether ‘trees’ didn’t look super out of place with high res trunks and default ‘leaves’.

We would like to note that skipping ahead to 1.16 block is a bit out of the ordinary for us, but when we find materials that fit certain blocks especially well we can’t help but use them. Still, it probably won’t become a super common thing.

Also, you can expect the Stratum System Requirements to be updated in the coming month now that a member of the team has gotten ahold of an RTX 3090 and 64GB of RAM. We should be able to use this hardware to provide more accurate requirements for every resolution of Stratum, but especially 2048x.

Textures added and/or changed in Build 10:

Added

  • Bone Block
  • Magma
  • Cracked Stone Bricks (likely temporary pending a better Stone Brick texture)
  • Crimson Nylium
  • Crimson Stem
  • Soul Soil
  • Warped Stem
  • Warped Nylium
  • Warped Wart

Tweaked / Fixed

  • Tweaked  Netherrack color
